I have had a lifelong fascination for words and poetry, and I have been reading and writing since I was a child.

Since I moved to Helsinki in 2017, I have been attending spoken word events more or less frequently. I took part in the Spoken Word Academy (Lavarunoakatemia) project organised by Helsinki Poetry Connection ry and funded by the Kone Foundation.

Nowadays, I write and perform mostly in Finnish, French or English. Some other languages may also find their way to my texts and performances. I sometimes perform in drag. My texts are often very personal or political, I like to share a queer perspective on the world.

Final Project for Lavarunoakatemia

My final project for Lavarunoakatemia, Särkynyt ruumis – Triptyykki kapitalismista [The Broken Body – A Triptych about Capitalism], explored the themes of corporeality, touch and longing in our capitalistic society—and the COVID-19 pandemic. My project involved spoken word, drag performance, and audiovisual material.

The first part Kapitalismin manausrituaali [The Exorcism of Capitalism] premiered on Zoom on 30 April 2021. It incorporated elements of drag and was inspired by Ovidius’ Tristia as well as Finno-Karelian oral poetry.

Its second part, Fragmentteja kosketuksesta [Fragments of Touch] was a web installation open in June 2021. It consisted of recordings of homoerotic poems and images of male bodies and explored our relation to touch in museums and romantic relationships in a world of smartphones and dating apps.

The last part, Uudelleen syntyminen [Being born again] premiered on 21 May 2022. It was a vote of thanks to the Academy and a collectively improvised poem.
